About IOOS

Water Quality

Water quality is a priority focus throughout the PacIOOS region. PacIOOS aims to help partners protect ecosystem and human health by collecting and providing access to real-time and historical water quality data.

To assess water quality, PacIOOS has deployed an observational network of cabled platforms, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), and coastal moorings in Hawai‘i and have deployed additional cabled platforms in each of the jurisdictions within PacIOOS. Additionally, PacIOOS developed a turbidity plume model for the Ala Wai Canal on the south shore of O‘ahu.
