Waikiki Surface Swim Current Predictions

Waikiki is one of the premiere beach destinations with millions of visitors and swimmers each year. Regular swimmers traverse the coastline enjoying the beautiful scenery and protection from large waves provided by corals. Using the PacIOOS ROMS model, we show the predicted currents around Waikiki for the next few days. Each morning, we deploy synthetic drifters offshore of the New Otani hotel into the predicted currents to estimate where floating particles would go.
